Berries, and darker berries in particular, are rich in antioxidants and vitamins. Blueberries have the highest level of antioxidants that protect our cells from damage.
Coconut water is packed with electrolytes and is extra hydrating, and the avocado here adds healthy fatty acids. Flaxseeds are a wonderful vegan source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are great for inflammation. Cacao is great for healthy skin as it increases blood flow and is extremely rich in antioxidants. When I chatted with the clean beauty experts at The Detox Market - we talked about skin issues - and one great point they brought up was sleep! Sometimes, you can do everything right - diet, skincare, etc. but still be struggling with dull, tired or acne prone skin, so proper sleep can be the missing piece.To improve your sleep, having a healthy snack before bedtime can keep your blood sugar levels balanced, which can give you a more restful night's sleep without waking through the night. Sleep was most likely the culprit in my situation, so we're using Moon Juice Dream Dust added to the smoothie to reduce stress and promote better sleep.
- 1 banana, frozen
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- 1 tablespoon flax seeds
- 1 teaspoon cacao powder
- 1/4 cup coconut water
- 1/4 avocado
